Para Composer Chiptune/Chipmusik bisa dibilang telah di mulai pada awal tahun 1980an, ketika bermulanya zaman kebangkitan home computer dan video games. Pada saat itu, para composer2 menghasilkan musik hanya untuk soundtrack videogames. Pada tahun 1987, Karsten Obarsk, game developer dari jerman, merilis "ultimate Soundtracker" untuk platform Commodore Amiga kepada publik. Tracker musik ini bisa dibilang sebagai Grandfather tracker2 musik lainnya. Setelah itu, semakain banyak bermunculan Tracker2 lain untuk platform2 komputer lainnya. selanjutnya kita bahas tools per-platform yang banyak di gunakan:
